What is Icedsport?
How is Icedsport different from other sports drinks currently on the market?
Why isn't Icedsport 100% organic?
The organic ingredients in Icedsport are rice maltodextrin and evaporated cane juice crystals. Unfortunately there is not currently a source for organic fructose (one may become available in summer 2010) which we felt important to include because studies have shown that maltodextrin and fructose work very well together for providing quick and sustained energy. The fructose we use is non-gmo.
What flavors does Icedsport come in?
Icedsport is currently available in Wild Citrus and Raspberry Lemonade. We will be adding more flavors in the future.
Icedsport Ingredients:
All of the ingredients in Icedsport are carefully selected to ensure highest quality. We are always looking for better ingredients to replace the ones we are currently using.
When should you drink Icedsport and how much should you drink?
Icedsport should be used during any activity that lasts longer than one hour or when calorie/electrolyte replacement is needed. For activity lasting less than one hour water is the best option for hydration. How much you drink depends greatly on what you are doing, what the temperature is, what altitude you are at, etc. Generally you should drink between 16-30oz per hour. A rule of thumb is that if your urine is not pale/straw colored than you need to drink more.
Can Icedsport be used with energy gels, bars and other energy products?
Yes. On days that are particularly demanding you may wish to consume more calories than you would otherwise get from Icedsport. On days like this it is recommended that you drink Icedsport along with energy gels and other high carbohydrate foods. However it should be noted that eating solid foods slows digestion, uses energy, and may cause stomach upset. Because of this it is recommended to stick with Icedsport and gels which are designed to be rapidly digested while providing quick energy. Food in your stomach will slow this down. Please note that everyone is different so experiment with different systems to find out what works best for you.
Is Icedsport good as a hot drink on a cold day?
Yes! Sometimes on winter days it is preferable to carry a hot drink rather than a cold one. Many athletes carry tea in the winter however tea does not replace electrolytes or carbohydrates so Icedsport is a preferable alternative. It is still important to drink plenty in the winter- many people feel that if they aren't sweating they don't need to drink as much but this is not true. Fluid can still be lost fairly rapidly in the winter especially at higher alitudes. Staying Hydrated in the Winter.
Why doesn't Icedsport have protein?
There has not been any conclusive evidence that protein in sports drinks actually improves performance. Because of this and the negatives associated with adding protein ie- messy, hard to mix, spoils quickly, and does not taste good- we have decided not to add protein to Icedsport. Generally protein should be consumed after exercise and studies have shown that chocolate milk works just as well as protein shakes. However if you wish to mix protein into Icedsport, select an unflavored one and add approximately two teaspoons per 16 oz serving.
Can Icedsport be premixed?
Yes but it should be refrigerated and consumed within two days.
Does Icedsport have caffeine?
No.
Why doesn't Icedsport have any added vitamins?
Multivitamins have not been shown to provide any benefit. We believe that you get all of the vitamins you need from food and they are not something that should be included in a sports drink. Sports Drinks are specifically formulated to replace carbohydrates and electrolytes not to be a multivitamin. If you believe that you do not get enough vitamins in your diet we recommend you adjust your diet or select a multivitamin.
Can the serving size be adjusted?
Yes. Although the recommended serving size is formulated for the best taste it can be adjusted for a more diluted drink if less calories or just a hint of flavor are desired. However keep in mind that by doing this you will be getting less electrolytes. It is not recommended to increase the amount of mix in a serving because a higher carbohydrate concentration can lead to stomach upset while exercising.
Is Icedsport vegan?
Yes.
Is Icedsport gluten free?
Yes.
Non-Traditional Uses for Icedsport:
